Another small mine on the Wood property (see section 2 above for the exact location) was tentatively worked some years ago by the Texas Mining & Manufacturing Co., of New York. On account of the low price of ore and scarcity of labor the company allowed its rights to lapse after taking out about 40 tons. The chromite occurs in massive and disseminated ore, but the percentage of chromite in the disseminated ore on the dumps is not very high. (Knopf, 1922.)
