McVey Quarry

Location: north of road, 0.3 mile southeast of Rock Springs

East of the Dawson quarry is another old quarry 50 feet by 30 feet and filled with water, on Charles McVey’s place. (Maryland Geological Survey, 1928)

Opened in 1901. Ore hauled to Conowingo for shipment. Active only a few years. (Pearre and Heyl, 1960).
