Chromite and other mineral deposits in serpentine rocks of the piedmont upland Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware, by N.C. Pearre and A.V. Heyl, Geological Survey Bulletin 1082-K (1960), discussion (abridged) of the Jones quarry is as follows:

Rhodewalt’s Jones Quarry, originally opened by the Brandywine Summit Feldspar Co. The Jones quarry is at least 20 feet deep in a pegamite that strikes N. 30° W. and is about 15 feet wide in the center. During the 1920s Harry Rhodewalt screened out some feldspar from an opening 5 feet deep at the north end of the quarry, and also shipped quite a few tons of No. 2 spar from the old dump for use in linoleum manufacturing.
