General von Steuben arrived at Valley Forge in February 1778, well after the local houses had been allocated as general’s quarters. There have been a number of suggestions as to where the General stayed including: the Slab Tavern [1], the James White House [2], and the Officer’s Huts.

Lockhart [3] makes a number of statements about Steuben’s Quarters. That is was at DeKalb’s Quarters; that the location is a matter of speculation; that Steuben moved at least once; and that the Quarters were very near to Stirling’s Quarters.
