Berwyn Ambulance Service

CHE53 image not found

Back in 1951, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Berwyn Fire Company raised enough funds to provide a much needed Ambulance Service for the Community. Upon delivery of the first ambulance, it was presented to the men of the Fire Company and was immediately put into service.

Through the 18 short years of existence, The Berwyn Ambulance has developed into an outstanding service organization to the community.

The averge number of calls per month are between 55 to 69 with an annual mileage of over 10,000 miles per year.

The ambulance is equipped with the latest of portable and stationary oxygen and first aid eqipment and is on call with trained men around the clock 365 days a year.

Recently we have installed a home alerting system so each man has direct voice communication from the Fire House Dispatch Center. This has reduced our night time responding time to about 3 minutes from the time of our notification.

Through the cooperation of The Ladies Auxiliary and the Fire Company who each has 5 representatives on The Ambulance Committee, they have joined hands to give a type of service to the community financed only by our Annual Fund Drive.
