Finding Aid for the Janet Lynam Perry Collection 2022

This collection was amassed by Janet Lynam Perry (1926-2016), a former member of the TEHS. The materials were donated by her daughter Edith Blair Perry in 2022.

PHOTOGRAPHS

31 postcards, not heretofore in the TEHS photograph collection, 12 of which are signed or inscribed by Lucy Sampson. The miscellaneous cards are housed in Book 36, and the Lucy Sampson cards were filed in Book 23 with other cards by her. All have been entered into the TEHS Image Collection. Also in the gift was a large photograph of a hangar at the Main Line Airport, an enlargement from a digital file, (OPA27); source of original unknown.

PRINTED MATTER

6 brochures, 10 newspaper clippings, and 6 maps of the Main Line or parts thereof (20th century).

ARTIFACTS

Matchbook covers from: The Ship Inn; Martini’s Restaurant; The Paoli Inn; and Philip H. Hancock, Early American [furniture] Reproductions. Business card from Brackbill’s Motel (Paoli).

metal ruler imprinted: ‘Malvern Farm Supply Co.”
metal bottle opener stamped: “Rams Head Ale – The Aristocrat of Ales” and “Make Friends with Valley Forge Beer”
metal jar opener: stamped: “Heinz 57”

(Note: three artifacts, also from Edith Perry, were donated in previous years: a milk bottle from Chesterbrook Farm, and one from Crumdale Farm, and a Fritz Lumber carpenter’s apron.)
