Will of Lewis Roberts

I Lewis Roberts of the Township of Schuylkill in the County of Chester and State of Pennsylvania do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made;

First I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of my Executors from any portion of my estate real or personal;

Second It is my will and I hereby bequeath absolutely to my beloved wife Harriet all my Estate real and personal; to her, for her use and benefit during her natural life and at the decease of my said wife Harriet it is my will and I do order and direct that the said Estate or so much as then remains shall be divided equally share and share alike amongst my children; that is to say Clementina intermarried with Samuel Lee, Anna F intermarried with Evan Vanderslice, Sarah Emily intermarried with Joseph Fussel, Charles B Roberts Mary Roberts Lewis Ellwood Roberts Joseph Roberts David Brooke Roberts and William Penn Roberts, their heirs in ? respectively;

Third, It is my will that my beloved wife Harriet may be at liberty to elect to sell the real Estate hereby bequeathed to her for her use, and invest the proceeds in good securities, or purchase real estate elsewhere; and to effectuate this my intention I do hereby rest in my Executors full power and authority to dispose of my said real Estate in fee simple in as full and large a manner in every respect as I would myself do if living;

Lastly I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife Harriet and my son-in-law Joseph Fussel Executors of this my last will and testament

Signed sealed and published by the said Lewis Roberts as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names as witness thereto in the presence of the said testator and in the presence of each other

Be it remembered that on the ninth day of October A.D. 1861 the last willl and testament of Lewis Roberts, deceased, was proved and approved in due form of law.
