Norristown Sept. 6, 1810

Died on the 24th of 8th mo in Tredyffrin township Chester County at the residence of her son in law Isaac Walker – Mary Pugh widow of Hananiah Pugh – at the advanced age of 89 years, 1 mo & 3 days – her remains were interred on the 26th at the Burial ground of friends in the great Valley, attended by an extraordinary number of relations, friends and neighbors – The deceased supported a lingering but extremely painful illnefs (illness) of nearly five months – with astonishing fortitude patience and resignation.

Seldom has society been blessed with a more useful member – every person, residing within the sphere of her acquaintance can bear testimony of her industry, charity amiability – in sociel (social) life and general philanthrophy (philanthropy) of her it may be truly said – that in every situation in which she was placed she performed the duties of life, with the greatest propriety – and by this means (?) at her last solemn hour – derived from a retrospective view of her existance (existence) a fortitude that enabled her to meet Death with the utmost tranquility and an applauding conscience seemed to afford her a consolatory anticipation of the glorious enjoyments of that state of being on which she was to enter

May her examples stimulate others to procure for themselves a correspondent tranquility at the arrival of that awful summons which all must obey by a similar discharge of the duties of existance (existence)
