The sawmill near the mouth of Crabby Creek was on the Davis property on the north side of Howellville (see 1847 map below). It was operated for over 100 years but little is known about it. A tax was first levied on the mill in 1767. In the 1850 manufacturing census it is described as having 2 saws and employing one person. The mill seems to have stopped operation around 1880.
